A little better, every version.

review a table from an existing-text PDF and save a spreadsheet. Choose Export > Table to spreadsheet, mark the area and column dividers, then correct the cells before exporting. XLSX keeps every cell as text, including leading zeros and long IDs. CSV may be reinterpreted by spreadsheet software; formula-like cells receive a protective apostrophe in the exported copy. This is not automatic table detection or scan OCR. Spreadsheet outputs are unencrypted. The review grid stays in this window and is not restart recovery.

Watched folders runs one explicitly started saved Batch job while Pagekind is open. Choose separate local input and output folders. Existing PDFs are excluded unless selected before Start. New or changed direct PDFs must settle before processing; subfolders are not scanned. Results run one file at a time without replacing earlier outputs. Pause and closing wait for the current request to stop before checking its result. Find previous folder jobs allows explicit recovery after restart; it does not resume automatically. No Windows startup task or service is installed. Inputs are saved files, not unsaved document edits.

Forms > Fill a copy from CSV maps your chosen CSV columns to supported PDF text fields. Choose one row, decide whether blank cells keep, clear or refuse each mapped value, and review a new output filename before creating one filled PDF copy. Mappings are never selected automatically. Checkboxes, radio buttons, choices, password fields, hidden fields and signed or scripted templates are not supported by this CSV workflow. Existing individual form-filling tools remain available. The template, CSV and open PDF history stay unchanged. This creates one reviewed copy, not a whole CSV batch. Font and form permissions still apply.

If a CSV export reply is lost, check the original saved-copy request instead of filling again. A saved result must be checked before you acknowledge it. Pending or uncertain results remain discoverable in Recover, including clean documents. An interrupted request may already have saved a file. No result check overwrites an output or silently chooses another filename.

Stopping CSV or watched-folder work retains its process ownership and all I/O until completion is confirmed. If stopping needs attention, new work, closing and updates wait; stop and result-check controls remain available. A result can stay unverified when complete exit evidence is unavailable. Retrying is not a guaranteed repair.

These engineering workflow previews require no account or sharing enrollment. Existing free PDF tools remain available. Connection sharing remains unavailable and off by default. No networking agent, peer manifest or network driver is included in this PDF-only payload; no final sharing notice or activation exists. This preview adds no paid upgrade, trial entitlement or trusted automatic updates. Text editing and OCR retain their existing font, layout and recognition limits.

click where you want to type in supported existing text. The caret starts near your click; double-click a word to select it. Ctrl+A still selects the whole line. This does not broaden which PDF text can be edited. If a page refresh fails after an edit applies, the next text selection waits for a fresh preview. Use Fit page to refresh; the applied edit stays in history.

OCR gives an eligible scan one higher-detail attempt when its normal pass finds no words. This also works before reviewing a scan's words. Existing nonempty recognition stays unchanged, and empty pages can take longer to finish. OCR does not identify the original font or replace the scan's visible letters. Review important names and numbers, and Save a copy when the result is ready.

keep unplaced Add text and Mark up words and settings when you switch tools or document tabs. These drafts stay only in the current window; they are not part of a saved copy or recoverable after restart. Drag on the page to place them, or use Discard unplaced changes. Closing warns before discarding. Create > From text uses local Undo/Redo while its text box has focus, without undoing the PDF open behind it. Find remembers the current document's search words across tool changes and Undo/Redo; run a fresh search to refresh matches. Recover shows the original folder for file-backed working copies. New PDFs use a plain origin label instead of exposing their internal storage folder. Recognized mixed-font or mixed-color paragraphs have clearer refusal guidance; this does not add mixed-style editing or broaden existing text support.

clearer feedback when opening fails, and Save a copy proposes an unused filename. If a name or folder becomes unavailable, choose another one. Saving still requires a new file and never replaces the original PDF. Find shows bounded batches of contextual matches. Next/Previous match and F3/Shift+F3 step through visible matches across batches without wrapping. Changing the query or saving retires old matches; your search words are kept with a clear refresh action. Search can be canceled and retried. The form designer shows retained page checks and a Next unchecked page action. These are detector checks, not completed reviews. Jumping does not detect or add fields automatically. Corrections and exclusions remain with their page in the current session; unapplied manual settings have an explicit discard action. The Passwords action's accessible name follows its visible choice.

Also included: a clearer home for saved reading places and saved document groups, with direct Open and Create actions and a compact layout for narrower windows. Only references you explicitly saved are shown; the home does not scan for files. Find clears old matches when the query changes and explains empty searches, no matches and failures. Enter starts the same search as the Find text button. For a supported paragraph refused because of leading ASCII spaces, choose Remove leading spaces to correct it explicitly. This changes indentation. Restore previous draft brings back the refused text while that correction is current; it does not undo applied PDF changes. Use Undo for the applied change. The unapplied draft and restore action are not saved across application restarts. Existing text, paragraph and font restrictions still apply.

Live editing: type directly on supported text, undo/redo changes, and save once. Originals are protected: final outputs must use a new filename. Includes search, zoom, highlights, comments, text boxes, annotation management, drag-to-reorder pages, and recovery of locally stored applied changes. Live forms: fill existing forms directly on the page. Text, checkboxes, radio buttons, choices and multiple selections update automatically, with synchronized side controls, undo/redo, field validation and saved-value read-back before a change is accepted. Rejected text and form drafts have a clear status and stay editable for correction. Manual text/check/dropdown form design is available. XFA, certificate signatures and complex-script shaping are not included.

Navigation: jump to a page with Ctrl+G, navigate existing bookmarks, and add an undoable bookmark for the current page. Recovery excludes workspaces still open in another window; only an exited owner's workspace can be claimed by a new window. Earlier 0.2/0.3 unsaved workspaces remain in their original location and should be recovered with that earlier preview. This version does not modify those workspaces.

Page organization: insert selected pages from another PDF, replace the current page, and draw a crop selection with a live shaded preview. These changes are undoable. Cropping changes the visible area only; hidden content remains. It is not redaction. Source PDFs must be unlocked before insertion. Whole-page replacement also removes that page's annotations and may remove bookmarks or links pointing to it. Same-named forms are separated during insertion and merge while their values and appearance resources remain independent. Recovered password histories now ask for the selected version's password before moving history. Wrong passwords and cancellation leave the current version intact.

More room for the page and simpler editing controls. Drag the inside edges of the page thumbnails and tool panel in wider windows. The edges also accept Left/Right arrows; Home restores the default width. Hide tool options without leaving the current tool. In narrower windows, the panels open over part of the page, one at a time. Width choices last for the current window. Panel layout changes preserve a current or refused text draft without applying it. Ctrl+G reveals the page box in the compact layout.

Choose a supported typeface, set the size and pick from six named color swatches. Expand Exact color value for a precise RGB value. Paragraph alignment and line spacing stay close; expand Text box size and capacity for width and line limits. Refreshing the inspector keeps pending style choices. Retired controls cannot alter their replacements. Supported-PDF and font restrictions still apply.

Readable editing in an adaptable workspace. Light PDF text stays visible on a contrasting temporary editing background. Your chosen text color is preserved in the saved PDF, and color previews retain the draft and selection. The caret follows the text color.

Navigation uses icons beside their labels when vertical space is limited. Create, Convert and Tools remain reachable at the supported smaller minimum; the first window also takes the Windows work area into account.

Resizing keeps an active text draft and its selection. Undo/Redo, saving a separate copy and reopening are checked on a supported PDF. Resize alone does not write the document or add a history step.

These checks cover declared content layouts, not every monitor, scaling mode, assistive technology or PDF layout. Engineering evidence is not a universal usability score.

Editing controls now reflect the selected page and text. Unsupported graphic and hidden-layer text is read-only with an explanation. Empty pages offer adding new visible text or recognizing a scan for searching; recognition does not make the printed letters in an image directly editable.

Zooming and failed preview/removal clear obsolete side-panel fields. Select a line again to continue live editing. Applied edits, Undo/Redo, saving a separate copy and reopening remain available. Protected copying stays restricted.

These improvements cover declared supported workflows, not every PDF layout, font or customer's preference. The source includes automatic control-state, recovery and independently read saved-PDF checks without desktop control.

Find possible text fields and checkboxes on supported digital PDF pages. Review numbered areas, correct names and labels, choose the fields you need, then add the selection as one change. Try filling, Undo/Redo and save a new copy. Your source stays unchanged. Scans and unsupported page graphics use manual placement; scripts, calculations and signature creation are absent.

Corrected suggestions stay with their page while you zoom or switch documents. Changed page content requires another review. A failed read retains the current proposal. Closing checks corrected fields that have not been added yet.

The application consistently uses its bundled PDF engine. An incomplete folder explains how to reinstall or extract the complete portable download. The native audit can exercise the bundled engine with Python absent from its PATH.

Tool search also recognizes ordinary phrases such as "make a PDF from photos", "put these PDFs together" and "find a comment". Supported capabilities and preview limits remain visible in the tool descriptions and guides.

Find everyday actions with phrases such as "add a comment", "change existing text", "reply to a comment" and "merge PDF files". Tool descriptions distinguish existing words, new visible text boxes and review notes. Favorites retain their order. The results list has an accessible container name.

Document opening and recovery share one checked local temporary folder with their workers, including when Windows temporary settings differ. Previous working copies in a valid configured folder remain discoverable in place.

Unsupported, missing or linked input paths produce an explanation while retaining the current document, drafts and input list. Correct the selection and continue. This does not claim whole-process network isolation or universal PDF support.

Recover distinguishes a failed working-copy check from an empty list. Check working copies again retries the read without discarding the recoverable file. Search panels and recovery failures are included in the expanded 172-state compiled control inventory. These checks do not establish universal usability or complete assistive-technology behavior.

Inspect the selected PDF before combining. The preview identifies the file and folder and distinguishes saved contents from this tab's applied edits. Previous/Next, direct page entry, zoom, Fit and Focus affect that preview. Invalid page numbers keep the current image and offer a correction; unavailable files offer Refresh. Reordering and previewing keep unfinished text drafts.

Long filenames leave room for the page, with the full name/path retained. Improved small-label and selected-row colors have automated contrast checks across entry, selected, invalid, unavailable and recovered states. These are scoped engineering checks, not full accessibility certification. Combining still updates the current working document when one is open; Pages then shows the completed packet. Failed combinations retain the input list. Undo and Save a copy retain their usual roles.

Choose separate reading and owner passwords and explicit printing, copying, editing, comment, form and page permissions. Optional settings stay off until chosen. You can allow reading without an opening password while retaining owner-controlled permissions. Invalid or overlong passwords are refused before publication; signed or unchecked structures cannot be rewritten by this tool.

Tool search and restricted panels explain required access. Verify owner access without leaving the tool. Supported existing text and paragraphs can be edited while retaining the original passwords and permissions. Restricted reading access and signed structures stay read-only. Copying restrictions apply to text drafts. Undo/Redo, saved copies, lost replies, tab changes and restart access are checked. Creating or changing form fields requires both content and comment permissions; filling existing fields is separate. Signed form structures cannot be redesigned.

Included from the internal 0.53 candidate: Edited protected PDFs retain their original reading and owner passwords, permission flags and supported encryption settings. Saved copies are checked before publication. The Passwords panel shows allowed actions and lets you enter an owner password without closing your tab or changing Undo history. Print restrictions are respected, including the 150 DPI low-resolution limit. Removing or replacing protection requires owner access. Unusual crypt-filter or metadata-exclusion settings are refused when they cannot be retained safely.

This preview also includes the fully audited OCR word-review work below. Version 0.52 was an internal candidate; the last distributed preview was 0.51.

Review recognized words before making a scanned page searchable. Compare the original scan with a highlighted word, search the word list, correct names/numbers, omit a word or restore its original recognition. Corrections are kept while typing. Apply adds the reviewed searchable layer with one Undo step; Save a copy remains explicit. The scan's visible pixels stay unchanged.

Keep for later resumes from Recover, including after a restart. Kept review text is protected for the current Windows account. Encrypted scans still require the PDF password; it is not saved. Reopening a kept scan verifies its exact bytes and retains the original filename in a separate tab. Interrupted edits and openings are checked before retrying. Completed reviews can be managed or discarded, and discarded scan cleanup can be retried when a local file is temporarily locked.

Windows OCR now reads in-memory image buffers without a temporary raster file. Review is currently one whole scanned page at a time, with bounded words and supported font coverage. Pages that already contain text are not replaced. Region OCR, mixed-style/complex-script correction, confidence scores and replacing an existing OCR layer are not included. Kept drafts are local working records, not portable backups or a promise of secure deletion. No automatic eviction of unfinished reviews is performed.

Choose the current page, all pages or a page range for local Windows OCR. Each document tab retains its page and language choices. The OCR inspector explains which pages will be checked and reports processed/skipped pages, with a direct Find text action after recognition.

Cropped page boundaries and the recognition engine's text angle now place the invisible searchable layer correctly. Invalid geometry and signed structures refuse rewriting. The scan's appearance and unselected pages stay unchanged; password-protected copies retain encryption. New OCR recovery receipts omit the recognized transcript; older stored receipts are not retroactively erased.

Existing text pages are skipped. A selection that already contains text reports no change without adding an Undo step. Scans with no recognized words stay unchanged and are reported separately; an entirely empty result explains that a clearer scan is needed without changing the PDF. Applied recognition retains one history step, Undo/Redo, interrupted-reply checks and exact saved copies. Correcting an existing OCR layer, word review and mixed-angle recognition remain separate work.

Keep named groups of saved PDFs and reopen the selected files in tabs. Saved PDF groups is available on Pagekind start and in All tools. Choose Save open PDFs, name the packet, select clean saved files and choose Save group. Check files shows each saved file's availability without opening PDFs. Open selected verifies saved bytes and retains existing edited workspaces and views.

New tabs open in the background while the group list stays in place. Stop after this file keeps completed openings. Passwords remain transient. Lost responses expose Check opening result and reconcile the same attempt before opening more members. Completed openings can be recovered after a window interruption.

Rename, reorder or remove a saved group without changing any PDF. Competing preference writes and invalid storage preserve the old data and name drafts. Up to twenty groups can be kept, each with one to twenty direct local PDFs up to 512 MiB; twenty PDF tabs can stay open across the window. Full storage never evicts existing choices. Groups store references, not contents or unsaved work.

Create through Favorites and the tool picker now opens the creation page when no PDF is open. These actions do not open an unexpected Open/File dialog.

Adjust a supported paragraph's alignment and regular line spacing while you type. Select a line and choose Edit surrounding paragraph. Paragraph alignment offers Left, Center and Right. Tighter lines / Looser lines provide quick adjustments; Line spacing (points) accepts exact values in the displayed range. Reset alignment and spacing restores the layout first selected.

The first baseline and original font stay in place. Text box width and Available lines work with the new formatting controls, preserving clear page space and supported original character positions. The typing preview updates immediately; Done editing reveals the PDF's exact typography. Invalid values, unsupported characters, collisions and overflow leave a draft you can fix or undo.

Continued typing during a write, interrupted replies, Undo/Redo, Save and reopen retain their verified history. Centered and right-aligned uniform paragraphs can now be selected directly, with regular spacing from 1.05 to 3 times the font size. Paragraph limits remain 2-60 lines and 5,000 Windows-1252 characters, subject to the embedded font. Mixed styles, complex shaping, justified text, automatic lists, hanging indents and flow between separate text boxes/pages remain unsupported.

Selecting text in a PDF with structural signature, certification or timestamp markers shows a read-only explanation before typing. Line and paragraph worker writes enforce the same protection. Use an unsigned original for text corrections. This is a bounded structural check, not signer authentication or certificate validation. Other operations and full document-signature workflows are separate.

Bring supported local XFDF sticky-note conversations into the open PDF after deliberate receiving-page review. Comments > Exchange comments > Review an XFDF import keeps an immutable local packet and shows every incoming record as Will add, Already present or Needs attention. Read full words in Comment and author/relationship/position details in Details. Search the list, preview the actual receiving pages and use Show selected position to inspect stored rectangles. Hidden replies and decisions are identified; note icons may be smaller than those rectangles. Every affected page must be explicitly reviewed before Apply.

Apply adds the complete supported set as one Undo step, preserving existing PDF objects and page content. Exact duplicates are skipped; all-duplicate input makes no PDF edit. Same-name conflicts and unsupported records stop the whole import. Receipts protect against duplicate application after interruption. Save a new PDF copy when ready. Keep for later retains the review through close/recovery; recovery never applies it automatically. Discard affects only that kept review.

The copied packet is local plain text. Changes to its external file cannot alter the kept review; changes to the receiving PDF require a new review. Names, dates, filenames and IDs do not prove authorship or document correspondence. Referenced files, URLs and actions are never followed. This initial import supports bounded plain-text Text notes, ordinary replies and Review decisions in unsigned, unencrypted PDFs. Rich text, popups, custom appearances, grouped comments, broader annotation types, ambiguous relationships and unsupported numeric values remain outside it. No actual Acrobat producer or universal interoperability is claimed.

Inspect local XFDF comment files and export supported plain-text conversations from Comments > Exchange comments. Inspection shows every record, its complete supported text, author, page and relationship, or a specific reason that it is outside the supported subset. Search the inspected text or author; page, tool and tab navigation retain the inspection with its document.

Export selected conversation as XFDF includes the root, all nested replies and decision records. Export all comments as XFDF includes every supported comment. The export refuses incomplete or unsupported scopes instead of omitting records. It preserves Unicode text, exact comment names, relationships, dates, state fields and supported visual metadata. Generated names for unnamed notes do not change the PDF. Export always writes a new file and leaves the PDF and Undo history as they were. No comments are uploaded or sent to another person.

An XFDF filename and page numbers do not prove that it belongs to the open PDF. Inspection makes no import and opens no referenced files, URLs or actions. XML document types, entities and processing instructions are refused. Rich-text, non-Text annotations and unknown commands remain visible as unsupported records. The reader is bounded to 4 MiB and 10,000 records; export initially accepts only complete supported Text conversations from PDFs up to 128 MiB with copying permission. Custom appearances, popups, groups and other unsupported annotation data prevent export. At the 0.47 milestone, XFDF import and broader interoperability remained future work. No actual Acrobat import or complete Acrobat parity is claimed.

New sticky notes also omit a nonstandard no-op /Flags placeholder previously emitted by the pinned PDF library. The actual PDF /F flags remain unchanged; earlier Pagekind notes with the known /Flags 0 placeholder can still export.

Correct a posted plain-text reply while retaining its original author label and conversation. In Comments, select a supported reply and choose Correct selected reply. Your correction is kept locally for recovery. Apply reply correction changes that exact reply in the working PDF; Save a copy keeps it in a file. The original author label is unverified PDF metadata and is not editable here.

Unfinished corrections remain separate from new-reply drafts through filtering, page, tool and tab navigation. They cannot silently move to another reply. A PDF change makes an old target stale; Undo can restore its original snapshot. Closing offers keep, discard or cancel. Recovery restores words without applying them. Newer words entered during an operation remain a separate correction. Exact operation receipts reconcile interrupted responses before another change is allowed.

Remove selected reply removes a uniquely placed leaf reply from the current comment list after an explicit confirmation. Replies with dependent objects, comments or decisions are refused. Earlier content remains in PDF revisions and Undo history. This removal does not erase confidential content. PDF Undo/Redo, recovery and Save a copy preserve applied corrections and removal.

Initial lifecycle writing supports bounded unencrypted, unsigned PDFs and hidden plain-text replies with complete ordinary same-page conversation chains. Locked, grouped, shared, malformed, rich-text, custom-appearance and printed/visible replies are refused. Earlier bytes, unrelated objects, author/parent/name/date fields and page display/print appearance are verified. The correction changes text and its modification date only. At the 0.46 milestone, XFDF interchange and broader imported-reply compatibility remained future work; this preview does not establish complete Acrobat parity.

Read and record review decisions in Comments. An exact reviewer label has its own history. Choose Accepted, Rejected, Completed, Cancelled or No decision, then explicitly Record decision. No decision adds a standard cleared state without deleting earlier records. Labels and dates are unverified metadata; Pagekind does not read the Windows account name or contact another reviewer.

Read the current decision and earlier history through the PDF's actual references, including files whose annotation order and dates differ. Ambiguous, mixed or unsupported histories remain readable without a guessed current decision. Navigation keeps your label, choice and original conversation. Use selected conversation explicitly reattaches them after another PDF edit. Choices are kept in the open window, not saved as recoverable drafts after closing.

Recording preserves the earlier PDF bytes, existing parent/history objects and page display/print appearance. Exact operation receipts reconcile interrupted responses. Document Undo/Redo travels through recorded decisions; Save a copy keeps them in a PDF file. Independently kept reply drafts retain their words and parent context and may need explicit reattachment after the PDF changes.

Initial decision writing supports bounded unencrypted, unsigned PDFs, ordinary comments and an unambiguous Review-only chain for the exact label. Locked, grouped, malformed, protected and unsupported inputs are refused. Histories are bounded at 64 records per label and summaries at 128 labels; an exact label can still be requested separately. At the 0.45 milestone, reply editing/removal and XFDF interchange remained future work. No complete Acrobat interoperability or production-readiness claim.

Write replies in Comments with a local display name. Drafts are kept locally for recovery while you change notes, pages, tools or document tabs. Post reply is explicit; keeping a draft does not change the PDF. Closing offers keep, discard or cancel, and a kept draft can return through Recover even when the PDF itself has no changes. Selecting another conversation never silently retargets your words; an explicit action can move the draft to that parent.

A verified reply becomes part of the working PDF and shares document Undo/Redo and Save a copy. Original bytes, parent objects and display/print appearance are checked before publication. Lost responses are reconciled; newer kept drafts cannot be overwritten by stale updates. Draft words and names are local plain text, without PDF password protection. No Windows account name is read.

Reply posting currently supports bounded, unencrypted, unsigned PDFs and ordinary parent comments. Grouped/malformed relationships, unsupported object references, locked parents, protected files and fidelity failures are refused while the draft stays available. At the 0.44 milestone, posted-reply editing/removal, review-status authoring and XFDF interchange remained future work.

Comments start with one entry per conversation. Show every note separately restores the individual list, and searches reveal matching replies with parent context. Select a note to read its conversation, author, PDF date and imported review status. Grouped marks show their shared primary note. Malformed relationships remain readable, and damaged date/status objects do not prevent the other notes from loading. Crowded pages keep all notes selectable without creating thousands of page controls. PDF content remains unchanged while reading. Reports remain flat. At the 0.43 milestone, posting replies, changing review statuses and XFDF interchange were not included.

Replacement typefaces preserve the distinction between ordinary and nonbreaking spaces in saved text. The same font outlines and widths are used; font files are unchanged. Reading, copying, text export and later edits retain the supported saved characters. Font and unattached text-object references are released on success and refusal. Original-font reconstruction, saved readback and neighboring-page fidelity checks remain required. Unsupported spacing, complex-script shaping and supplementary-character edits remain refused.

Select a completed batch row and choose View result. Check its actual saved file, open a PDF in its own editable tab, preview the beginning of a text export, or list the page images in a saved ZIP. Existing result tabs retain their edits and view. Interrupted openings check the same attempt; Check opened PDF remains available when verification cannot finish. Other documents remain usable. Failed previews keep retryable tabs. Committed clean batch copies can be found by Recover after their owner exits; ambiguous partial files are retained. New queue waits for the pending opening check and keeps finished output files.

Create checks an interrupted result before another attempt. A completed PDF opens once, including after edits or saving. Unknown results keep your draft and offer Check result while other documents remain available. Failed preview loading keeps a retryable document tab. Closing warns about unfinished creation drafts; these drafts are not saved across app exit. File creation uses the same held input bytes throughout rendering. Closed results stay closed.

imported forms with harmless empty annotation entries now preview, fill and save. Their real fields keep their identities through design, radio question editing and page navigation. Page insertion, replacement, selection and merge accept those files, preserving real annotations, field values and visible page content. Unsupported or malformed non-empty structures remain limited.

readable comment previews, search by note text or author, page and annotation-type filters, previous/next notes, and a bounded virtualized list. Unapplied note drafts survive filtering and refresh. Valid drafts apply before page, tab or tool changes; rejected drafts remain visible. Escape/Undo discards an unapplied draft before document history. Note changes verify exact snapshot placements, including identical imported notes. Shared references, replies, popups and rich-text annotations are readable with explicit editing limits. Save all or filtered plain-text notes as local UTF-8 text/JSON reports. Reports are unencrypted, use new filenames and respect copying permissions. JSON is a Pagekind review record, not XFDF interchange. Author metadata is unverified.

Create opens a dedicated workspace. Choose blank pages, typed text or an ordered list of local images/text files, with A4, Letter or Legal paper and portrait/landscape orientation. Ctrl+N opens Create. A new PDF opens in its own unsaved tab, retaining other open documents. Draft settings survive rejected creation and cancelled file selection. Save a copy when ready.

reusable local jobs for recurring PDF work. Choose Batch > Use a reusable job. Add, reorder, duplicate or remove rotation, compression and page-number steps, then choose one final PDF, text or page-image output. Save the job locally or preview its exact queue without saving it first. The queue keeps an independent snapshot. Original files remain unchanged. Per-file step progress, exact output identities and interruption checks precede retry. Retrying incomplete files restarts from their original reviewed inputs. Page numbers are bottom-center visible footer content and may cover an existing footer. Text export does not run OCR; picture compression may lose detail. Locked, signed/certified and XFA inputs fail individually. This is not an arbitrary script runner or complete Acrobat Action Wizard replacement.

give form fields a predictable route. Design a form > Field navigation on this page lets you choose rows, columns or the PDF reader default. Show numbered field previews, then Apply page navigation to save one undoable rule. Pagekind's on-page fields follow rows/columns; each radio question has one tab stop, with arrow keys moving between its choices. The rule survives filling, supported field/question edits and page extraction. Tagged, XFA and unknown navigation remain retained. Numbers preview fields; other readers can resolve overlapping fields and links differently. This does not add accessibility tags or establish screen-reader conformance.

design single-choice form questions. Forms > Design a form > Single-choice question creates two to twenty answer circles beside labels already on the page. Name the question and each choice, preview circle positions and sizes, choose a starting answer, and apply the question as one undoable workspace change. Try filling applies a valid draft before switching to live filling; invalid drafts remain available to correct. Edit one circle, reorder/add/remove answers or rename/remove the whole question. Filled and starting answers stay separate. Choose a replacement before removing either selected choice. Save a copy keeps the original. Imported, scripted, tag-associated and unsupported groups remain available for supported filling. No visible choice text, custom tab order or accessibility tags are added.

keep a saved PDF's reading place on Pagekind start. Read & select offers Keep this reading place. Return to reading restores the saved page, zoom, fit and single/continuous view after verifying the file. Already-open PDFs retain their current workspace and view. Save pending edits first; unsaved recovery remains separate. Changed/missing files keep other tabs intact. Protected PDFs request their password again; no password is stored. Only explicitly chosen paths and view settings are stored locally. Opening, scrolling and closing do not add history. Four cards appear initially; Show all lists up to twenty. Remove and Clear saved places leave PDF files untouched. The first delivery reopens one chosen file, not a saved group of tabs.

keep measured character spacing when editing supported paragraphs. The paragraph editor can now preserve custom character-pair spacing and word gaps that are present in the PDF's layout but absent from its space-glyph width. Wrapping measures the proposed character positions inside the selected frame. Supported text still applies live, with synchronized fields, draft preservation, and exact PDF Undo/Redo. Saved output is checked against the intended render. Paragraphs must still be horizontal, uniform and reliably reconstructable. Mixed styles/scripts, uncertain mapping and overflowing drafts are refused. This does not infer semantic paragraphs or continue text into another box/page.

Read & select now also offers Follow links. Explicit local page links use the existing Back/Forward history. Website links show their full destination before the separate Open website action. Both single and continuous reading are supported. Only the active page's visible PDF link annotations become targets. Long lists show twenty links at a time. Local/remote files, scripts and chained actions are not executed; page destination zoom/XY and automatic URL detection are not included.

This build also retains coordinated thumbnail/reader requests and bounded retry after a brief document lock, corrected during final 0.31 verification.

assemble pages from the PDFs already open. Choose Insert pages, then Open PDFs. Select a source document, its page numbers and where to put them. Review actual source-page thumbnails, order and result count before applying one undoable change. Applied edits in the source tab are included; its original, working snapshot and history stay unchanged. Source names include unsaved status and a location to distinguish similar names. The selected source, range and placement stay with each destination tab. Changed or closed sources require a new review. Missing workers allow retry without losing the range. Up to 1,000 source pages can be copied in one operation. Remove a source password explicitly before copying its pages. The destination's password protection remains in force. Copied form fields get distinct names; the review explains tagged-PDF reading-order and page replacement limitations. Pending source redaction marks cannot be mistaken for actual removed content. Export and open the verified redacted image copy before using those pages. Pending marks in any document also block conflicting content edits; Save returns to Review redactions outside that tool. This safeguard arrived in 0.30.

read naturally from one page to the next. In Read & select, choose Continuous to scroll through nearby full pages. The page number follows the view; select and copy words on the active page or use the keyboard-selectable text panel. Find and Bookmarks keep the reading layout. Back/Forward, zoom, Focus and each document tab retain useful reading positions where scroll bounds allow. Choose Single page or an editing tool to return to the actual selected page's editor. Text selection stays within one page. Nearby page controls and images load on demand, with at most six cached images and a 64 MiB decoded-image budget. Geometry supports up to 20,000 pages. Images are bounded at 1,600 pixels wide and 2,200 pixels high, allowing one rounding pixel. Page fit uses the first page's height and width fit the widest page. Foreground edits and saves cancel only the app's own reading requests. Failed or malformed page replies retain the preceding valid view. Reload pages allows retry. Delayed transitions disable competing navigation. Original PDF bytes remain unchanged by reading. Editing and Undo rebuild the reader from the new snapshot, clearing stale text/images and numeric view destinations.

return to useful places with Back and Forward. Use the buttons below the page number or Alt+Left / Alt+Right to revisit a previous reading position. Page-number, bookmark, thumbnail and Find-result jumps share one history; Find results remain available after following a match. Each tab remembers up to 100 views, including page, zoom, fit and a normalized reading position. Zoom retains the reading anchor where scroll bounds allow. Saving the same snapshot and switching tabs retain history. Editing, page operations and PDF Undo/Redo start a new view history because page identities may have changed. Invalid drafts stay editable. A failed destination render keeps the previous preview and view history, with a retryable read error. View navigation does not add PDF history entries. Saved view history after app exit and cross-document view history remain planned. Continuous reading arrived in 0.30.

smoother thumbnail navigation for long documents. Small nearby page previews load through a separate read-only worker. Recycled thumbnail rows and a settled cache of up to 36 small images avoid retaining a full-size page bitmap for every visited page. Page-number and bookmark jumps keep the selected thumbnail visible. Editing, saving and closing take priority over previews; stale replies are ignored, and a failed preview can retry. Drag or move a page as one undoable change while retaining the selected page. Invalid drafts and pending redaction marks block reordering. Fit-to-page sizing also stays stable through Focus mode. This release improved the single-page workspace. Back/Forward views arrived in 0.29; continuous reading arrived in 0.30.

Read & select, in Review or the tool picker. Drag a passage on the page, double-click a word or Shift-click to extend. Select text with your keyboard in the read-only page-text panel. Use Copy selection / Ctrl+C, or explicitly copy this page's text. Selection follows zoom and saving the same snapshot; edits, undo, page and tab changes load the relevant text. Unicode pairs, rotated/cropped pages and copy permissions are handled explicitly. Unreliable character mappings are flagged and affected copy ranges are refused. Empty pages offer an OCR route where available. No PDF edits or history entries are made by selection or copying. Text follows PDF character order, not semantic column/table analysis. Interactive selection is bounded at 100,000 PDFium character entries per page.

Save open copies from the document-tab bar or tool picker. Choose a local folder and review exact output names. Changed documents are selected initially; include other open PDFs if needed. Each copy retains its own PDF password and history, and saving does not switch the active page or tool. Stop or close after the current verified copy. Files created after review are never overwritten. Known refusals have individual results; an uncertain reply stops further saves and preserves work for Recover. Review names again to retry a filename conflict. Invalid drafts and unexported redaction marks must be resolved first; ordinary saves do not apply redactions. The queue itself is not automatically resumed after restarting. Up to 20 open PDFs can be reviewed.

More original-font lines can be edited when their PDF uses individual character positions or generated gaps between words. Adjacent unchanged letters retain their spacing; new pairs use the original font's measured advances. The original line must reconstruct exactly, and saved text, layout and surrounding pixels are checked. Words, size and color can change together. Generated spaces are kept separate from encoded letters, avoiding invisible wrong characters. The saved text is checked at the selected object rather than elsewhere on the page. This is bounded horizontal Latin line support, not complex shaping, arbitrary typography or new paragraph-layout support. Unsupported drafts remain editable.

Add room below a supported paragraph with Available lines and Add a line / Fewer lines controls. The bottom edge previews immediately; the original first baseline, font and spacing stay fixed. Width and available lines can change together. Added lines keep their drawing position; surplus lines are removed. Previously edited paragraphs remain selectable after their text IDs shift. Continued typing and line changes apply in order. Undo/Redo and recovered workspaces retain applied geometry. Invalid counts, overflow and nearby content remain explained drafts. Choose 2 through 60 lines within clear page space. Saved font, text, rendering and outside-area guards remain active. This does not add automatic growth, mixed-style or complex-script layout, or page-to-page text flow.

Cleared paragraphs remain selectable: an Empty paragraph frame and Paragraphs on this page list reopen remembered text boxes with their original font, color and available lines. Markers belong to the editor UI, not the saved PDF, and hide outside text editing or when text returns. Stale selections are refused.

Resize supported paragraph text boxes horizontally with live width controls and More room / Less room buttons. The right edge previews immediately; text reflows with the original font, baselines and line capacity. Width-only edits and continued width/text changes apply in order. Nearby content, page bounds and overflow checks protect the surrounding page. Invalid widths remain explained drafts; Undo discards unapplied changes before traversing applied frame history. Saved working paragraphs retain the resized frame for later edits and Undo/Redo. Unchanged width is omitted from the request to preserve the exact original frame. Inspector text/style controls, color swatches and width buttons remain responsive during live text/paragraph writes. Other actions retain their busy guards. This does not add lines, move the left edge, change leading or add complex-script or mixed-style paragraph editing. Width uses PDF page coordinates, above 2 through 14,400 points. Original files remain protected; no new runtime dependency is added.

Interrupted saves now verify the actual copy and recover its saved state. A durable local intent and flushed PDF precede no-overwrite publication; exact byte/hash checks confirm the output before recording success. Lost replies and interruptions after publication can reconcile without rewriting the file. Save updates request revision without adding an Undo step. Unavailable verification keeps the working document for recovery. Recover can check interrupted saved copies and shows their verified location; conflicts produce review/save guidance. Records contain paths and hashes, not passwords. Encrypted PDFs retain their protection. Saving refuses network/mapped paths, links/junctions and temporary workspace output. Publication and state recording remain separate files; this is not a physical power-loss test or secure disk erasure. Interrupted save scratch may contain PDF content until cleanup. The batch list also preserves selection, scroll and row identity through planning, live progress, verification and tool navigation.

Redact image copy creates a new PDF made only from masked page pixels. Choose Tools > Redact image copy, drag over every sensitive area or enter a numeric rectangle, then review each page. Ctrl+Z/Ctrl+Y edit marked areas independently of PDF history. Marks stay with their open document tab; changing its snapshot clears obsolete coordinates. Closing asks before discarding unexported marks. Mark history keeps the latest 50 states, and only the active full-size preview is cached. The preview and export use identical masked pixels. Acknowledgment is required: every page becomes an image, losing searchable/selectable text, vectors, interactive forms, links, bookmarks, accessibility tags and certificate signatures. The output is unencrypted. Original files and their editing history remain unchanged and are not sanitized. Users must mark every visible sensitive occurrence and review output. The new PDF carries no original objects, hidden text, metadata, attachments or actions. Before publication, independent structure and decoded-pixel checks verify the whole output. A lost export reply triggers verification of the actual file; matching completed output is reused, never overwritten. Different existing files remain untouched. A hard-killed worker may leave unpublished redacted temporary output. This is not secure disk erasure or an object-preserving redaction engine. Limits: 128 MiB input, 200 pages, 1,000 areas, 16 million pixels per page and 240 million per copy. Choose 72/144/300 DPI; large pages use a displayed lower effective resolution. Marks are not persisted for recovery after the window exits.

open PDFs in separate document tabs using Open, Ctrl+O or Ctrl+T. Each document keeps its own applied edits, history, saved marker, password, page, zoom and last document tool. Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab select adjacent documents; Ctrl+W closes the current tab. Opening an already open original selects its tab. Valid pending text/form drafts apply before switching; rejected drafts stay put. Closing the app reviews unsaved tabs before closing sessions. Cancel keeps them available. Unreadable workspaces can be explicitly retained for later recovery. Recovering several documents opens separate tabs. Failed loading clears stale controls and offers Retry loading this PDF. A clean background tab closes without changing the selected document. Passwords/tab view records remain in memory only. Batch queues stay separate from these document sessions. Empty text exports now explain that no selectable text was found; occupied reports are consistently refused. Up to 20 document tabs. One active editor; no split view, saved tab-order restoration, cross-tab page dragging or Save All yet. Print/comparison previews refresh on switching.

a local batch queue for compression, text export and page-image ZIP export. Add up to 200 PDFs, choose one operation and a local output folder, then preview the exact output names before Run. Files run serially with individual results. Cancel keeps completed outputs; retry processes unfinished files. Lost worker responses are checked against the saved expected output hash. Changed inputs, occupied outputs and unknown results are not silently retried. Files needing a password fail individually while other files continue. Recover an interrupted queue from Batch tools. Save an optional local text report. New queue removes its record and owned scratch files but keeps completed outputs. Batch uses chosen disk files, not unsaved edits in an open editing workspace. Queue records contain local paths/hashes/results. Temporary copies and outputs are local; text/image exports have no PDF encryption. Queues are kept after a crash for explicit recovery/cleanup. No automatic folder scanning, scripts or uploads. Text export does not OCR scans. Compression may not shrink an already compact PDF; lower picture quality loses detail. Multi-step recipes and batch OCR remain future work.

pin your usual tools to Favorites. Use the button below a tool's title or the star in All tools. Your pinned tools appear across groups and on the start screen. All tools > Favorites offers search, move earlier/later and removal. Focus mode hides the strip; navigation retains the existing draft checks. Preferences store tool names/order only in LocalAppData/Pagekind/Preferences. They contain no document names, PDF content or passwords and have no network sync. Atomic replacement and a short file lock preserve settings across competing windows or failed writes. Corrupt/future settings are kept instead of silently overwritten. Audits select isolated preference directories before any window is constructed. Uninstalling application binaries leaves personal favorites and unsaved work intact.

Tools > Print (Ctrl+P) prepares the current working PDF, including applied edits and filled forms. Preview selected pages on Letter, A4 or Legal paper. Choose ranges, odd/even page numbers, reverse order, Fit, Actual size, Shrink or a custom percentage. Grayscale, printable annotations and 150/300/600 DPI are available. Large pages reduce resolution to bound image memory. Printing uses page images; vector output, booklet layout, posters and multiple pages per sheet are not included. The Windows dialog chooses the destination, copies and supported duplex settings. Only choosing Print sends data, potentially to a network printer. Print data does not retain the PDF password. Cancel can stop preparation; already submitted sheets may still print. Temporary images are removed after completion/cancellation when Windows permits. Print preparation does not change the PDF or its Undo history. Tests serialize real page output to an isolated local XPS file without opening printer dialogs or queues. Physical printer/driver behavior is not established. Invalid page ranges are now rejected before expanding very large numbers.

Forms > Design a form adds text fields, checkboxes and dropdowns to an existing PDF. Place a field at the center or draw its frame, then move, resize, name and label it. Required, read-only and multiline settings are available. Try filling opens the same live field controls used by other PDF forms. Changes support Undo and saved-value read-back. Existing imported fields can be filled; design controls currently support simple fields created by this designer. Automatic field detection, radio-group design, scripts, accessibility tagging and complex-script fonts are not included. Removing a field is not secure redaction.

choose Edit > Edit pictures to select a picture on the page or in the list. Add PNG/JPEG pictures, replace an individual occurrence, drag to move or resize, enter exact positions, rotate, flip or remove. Proportions are locked by default. Release a drag to apply; Escape cancels it. Every change supports Undo. Replacement offers Keep proportions or Fill current frame. PNG transparency, RGB ICC profiles and JPEG orientation are handled. Repeated uses of the original image remain independent. Password protection and the document catalog are retained. Clipped images can be replaced while keeping their clip; moving them is refused. Grouped Form objects, inline images, stencil masks and optional layers are not editable. Convert CMYK replacements to RGB first. Added pictures have no new accessibility tags or alternate text. Removal/replacement are not secure redaction. The edited page is reopened and compared outside the affected area before a result is published. Independent PDF fixtures and hidden native controls exercise the workflow; no desktop screenshots, input control or app windows are used in audits.

interrupted edit and Undo/Redo replies are checked against a result record committed with the working snapshot. A completed change is recovered without applying it twice. Continued typing, form values and paragraph frames stay in sync. If the result cannot be checked, Pagekind protects the workspace and asks you to close, reopen and use Recover. A still-unapplied typing draft may not be recoverable. Routine audits run without desktop input or screenshots, in isolated temporary workspaces. Individual native feature suites can be checked separately. This does not replace clean-Windows, human accessibility or physical-offline validation.

stronger small icons with ten native Windows sizes, a larger header mark and explicit website favicons. Undo discards an unapplied text, style, form or paragraph draft before travelling through PDF history. Redo waits until the draft is resolved. Fit page (Ctrl+0), Fit width (Ctrl+2) and Ctrl+Plus/Minus make reading easier. Page zoom shows actual PDF magnification; comparison zoom is labeled relative to its fitted view. Resizing preserves rejected drafts. Failed or cancelled opening retains the current document, tool and merge selection.

edit a supported paragraph inside its existing frame. Words wrap using the original font; Enter adds a line break. The draft applies after a pause and reports its line capacity. Overflow stays editable without changing the PDF. Blank lines, continued typing, undo/redo and saved-copy read-back are supported. Working-session history retains the frame after shorter drafts and recovery. The first implementation supports 2-60 aligned, uniform, horizontal Latin lines. It does not grow frames, change paragraph typography, substitute fonts, or reshape complex scripts. Use line editing for mixed layouts and typography changes.

a task-based start screen, grouped navigation and a searchable All tools picker (Ctrl+K). Focus mode gives the page more room; page thumbnails can be hidden separately. Tool changes preserve rejected drafts and apply supported pending edits before navigation. Add text opens the text-box tool; headers and stamps have their own entry. The editor and native controls use the Pagekind brand.

select installed static TrueType typefaces, including bold and italic faces, as an explicit live font change. Font coverage and embedding flags are checked; unsupported formats, translucent/outlined font changes and network font paths are refused. The current font caption follows applied changes.

change supported existing text size and solid opaque colors live. The in-page draft updates immediately, supported values apply after a pause, and size/color/text changes share undo history. Saved geometry and appearance are checked before accepting a change. Translucent text keeps its original color; its size can be adjusted. Overlapping or off-page text is refused. Size/color editing does not add paragraph reflow or complex-script support.

compare an older local PDF with the current applied working document. Exact page appearances anchor matching; similar and repeated pages are labelled for review. Added, removed and moved pages are distinguished. Inspect side-by-side pages, a purple difference layer, extracted-text changes, or a chosen manual pair. Comparison results expire when a working snapshot or either source file changes. Export a self-contained local HTML review report or a selected-pair report. Reports embed document content without password protection. No source PDF is changed and comparison adds no undo entry. Summary rendering uses up to 72 DPI and selected details up to 144 DPI, reduced for unusually large page dimensions. Matching is a heuristic; metadata, tags, signatures and hidden content are not fully compared.

Text editing supports verified text runs and bounded uniform paragraphs. Exact font matching is verified against the rendered source. Unsupported shaping, mixed-style paragraphs and nested graphics are rejected. OCR uses Windows' installed language packs. This build has not passed clean-machine administrator installation/uninstallation or a broad real-document validation campaign. It is unsigned. Do not treat this engineering preview as a production-certified release.

Third-party notices are in the adjacent third-party directory. No commercial font files are bundled. Installed fonts are used subject to embedding flags.

complete page reordering retains the document catalog, language, metadata, form objects, tags and displayed page labels. Existing tagged reading order is retained; visual reordering does not repair accessibility. Numeric local links and opening destinations follow their original pages. Subsets/duplicates preserve displayed labels and disclose when accessibility tags are removed. The editor verifies original glyph spacing before reconstructing a text run. Unsupported spacing is refused without publishing a changed copy. Independent constructed-PDF preservation checks and measured image-heavy worker loads now have reproducible scripts and separate, explicitly scoped reports.

rename bookmarks, add nested bookmarks, move whole sections within a group, update their destinations, or remove a section and its nested bookmarks. Bookmark changes preserve page content and share document undo. Add underline and strikeout marks with explicit appearances for rotated pages. Select annotations on the page or in Comments. Move and resize supported marks with the outline and corner handle, or enter exact position and size percentages. The outline previews a drag; releasing applies it to the working PDF. Escape cancels. Locked/read-only annotations and unreviewed custom appearances disable unsupported changes. Comment contents locks are respected. Cropping drafts reset across snapshots. About shows the application version and preview limits; idle status is clearer.
